Falling is not Flying

Have you ever stood at the edge of a cliff, and looked down, at the deep plunge, and at the bottom, far, far below?

Do you ever hear that voice, murmuring in your ear?

Jump, it says, urging you nearer to the edge, and you look down, wondering what the fall would be like, thinking how easy it would be to just step right off the edge, and feel for those few brief seconds of falling, that you were flying.

Jump. You step away. It may yet call you, but you never actually jump, even though the temptation pulls at your heartstrings. There is something that you are held back by; those connections to others, which stop you from taking that final leap.

But what if all those connections were severed?

Jump, the edge calls, and with the loneliness weighing down your soul, what is there to stop you?

  2. Haha, no I'm not suicidal or anything. I just always thought that falling might feel like flying, but at the same time, you'd know that it isn't.
Also, every time I do get near cliffs or other high places I do feel like jumping. But I mean that in a more bungee/BASE jump type way :P

  3. But remember about all that pull up stuff at the end of bungee jump :P I guess it doesn't feel like flying, not one bit :D

But what you wrote brought one thing to my mind. Have you watched Crouching Tigger Hidden Dragon?
If you have, then you must remember the last scene, when Jen asked Lo to make his wish upon the edge of the mountaint. He did, they flew down and, according to the prophecy, Lo's wish to go back to the desert again came true.
    It was marvelous :)

  4. Yeah, the bit at the end where you get jerked back up is the thing that isn't appealing to me about bungee jumping. Funny that the jump isn't what I'm scared of, it's the jerk back, 'cause I'm weird like that :P
But yeah, that bit especially wouldn't feel like flying.

No, I actually haven't seen that. I will most definitely check it out though!

  6. Haha, that's fair enough. Lots of people are afraid of heights. But for some inexplicable reason, I'm not one of them...

Yeah, I most definitely will do. It might not be for a while though, because I'm not at home at the moment, but definitely in the next couple of weeks :) thanks for that recommendation!
